Set to replace the F 850 GS, the new model is expected to come with a slightly higher price tag.
BMW Motorrad has teased the arrival of its middleweight adventure motorcycle the F 900 GS on its social media channels. The launch of the new middleweight GS is likely to take place soon with the bike replacing the F 850 GS.
BMW had already revealed the F 900 GS internationally a few months ago. The ADV bears a revised design language, with a more aggressive and rally-inspired derived front end, sans the large front beak. This GS features an enduro-like seat, and a white exposed sub-frame, giving it a rugged and off-road-ready look.
The BMW F 900 GS has a new 895cc twin-cylinder engine, producing 105 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 93 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Thus, it makes 10 bhp and 1 Nm more than its predecessor. BMW has achieved this with revised engine mapping that delivers a noticeable power bump. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.
The BMW F 900 GS's features have undergone minimal changes, but it now comes equipped with a road-legal Akrapovič rear silencer as standard. Additional features include heated grips, hand protectors, and adjustable hand levers. Alongside the 12V socket, a USB slot has been added for enhanced convenience. However, BMW has reassigned some features to the Optional equipment category, which now includes additional ride modes and the Enduro package Pro. Other features, such as keyless ride, tyre pressure monitor, and eCall Intelligent Emergency Call, can be added as standalone options. Lastly, BMW may offer the following as optional accessories: Vario luggage system, tank bag, engine guard, larger adjustable foot brake lever, handlebar risers, high windscreen, and the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Navigator.
The chassis is a bridge-type frame, with steel shell construction. The BMW F 900 GS has a 43mm USD fork and a monoshock, with 170 mm of wheel travel at both ends. The new F 900 GS tips the scales at 218 kg, a significant reduction of almost 14 kg from its predecessor. The seat height is set at 825 mm, with an optional lower seat available at 795 mm. The fuel tank capacity of 14 litres, is one litre less than the predecessor's 15 litre tank.

BMW Motorrad is expected to launch the F 900 GS in India by the end of the month, with a price tag of around ₹13.5 lakh onwards. Currently, the BMW F 850 GS is priced at ₹12.95 lakh. The top-of-the-line variant's pricing might go up to ₹15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to lock heads with the Triumph Tiger 900s and the Ducati Multistrada V2 and DesertX.
