BMW Motorrad expanded its product portfolio in India by riding in the new M 1000 R. The new motorcycle is the flagship naked motorcycle on sale globally from the German giant. The BMW M 1000 R will be offered in two variants, the standard variant is priced at ₹ 33 lakh, whereas the M 1000 R Competition will set you back by ₹ 38 lakh (both prices mentioned are ex-showroom India). The new BMW motorcycle is a CBU (completely built-up unit) and can be pre-ordered across all BMW Motorrad dealerships in India and deliveries will commence from January 2024.
Speaking about the new product, Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The all-new BMW M 1000 R is the second M model from BMW Motorrad. This powerful superbike pushes you to the limit with its dynamic roadster characteristics and stunning performance. Its heritage stems from M racing developers and the racetrack. It is a motorcycle built for those who are driven by passion and maximum performance, ready to dominate the road.
The BMW M 1000 R is the performance variant of the BMW S 1000 R. What makes the M 1000 R unique is the winglets that not only makes the bike look sinister but helps in improving the aero performance of the motorcycle. Apart from this you also have carbon fibre wheels that reduce the unsprung mass thereby making the handling dynamics much better. The BMW M 1000 R Competition comes with carbon fibre goodies such as carbon wheels, pillion package as well as the pillion cover and a milled, fully adjustable rider footrest system.
Powering the bike is in-line-four cylinder engine pumping out 213 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. The BMW M 1000 R is among the most powerful street bikes on sale. Talking about performance, BMW claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 280 kmph. The bike is loaded with goodies such as a 6.5-inch TFT display, GPS data logger, GPS laptrigger, adaptive cornering lights, electronic cruise control and lighter battery. In terms of electronic aids, the M 1000 R features multi-level ride modes and traction control settings, cornering ABS, wheelie control, launch control and more.
BMW Motorrad is offering a 3-years unlimited kilometres warranty for the M 1000 R and customers can extend it to 5 years. The BMW M 1000 R competes against the Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP2 and the Kawasaki Z H2
