BMW confirmed six new electric models to be based on the Neue Klasse platform, with the first car ready for the market by 2025.

In a grand reveal in Munich, BMW Group introduced the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, offering a sneak peek into the next generation of BMW vehicles. Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, emphasised the company's commitment to innovation in electrification, digitalization, and circularity as they pave the way for the future of mobility. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse boasts a design language that looks simple yet elegant. Moreover, the company also confirmed six new electric models will be based on the Neue Klasse platform, with the first car ready for the market by 2025. Reports suggest that this could be the first electric 3 Series, which will likely replace the ICE version of the compact sedan.

Moving over to the design language under the new Neue Klasse vision platform. The vehicle's exterior features clean lines that accentuate iconic BMW elements such as the kidney grille and the Hofmeister kink of the side window graphic. The exterior design elements of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse are poised to define future models in the Neue Klasse line-up, with a focus on clarity and timelessness. Notable features include powerful wheel arches, a retracted greenhouse, and a distinctive "shark nose" front-end characteristic of BMW vehicles. Large window areas and a sleek, monolithic vehicle body contribute to the vehicle's striking aesthetic.

The vehicle's exterior paint is "Joyous Bright," with a subtle yellow hue reflecting its friendly and forward-looking personality. Contrasting black side skirts and bumpers add visual appeal. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse places an emphasis on circularity by using a higher percentage of secondary raw materials and streamlining material variety for improved recyclability.

The front-end design integrates BMW's signature elements, including the kidney grille and double headlights, into a unified interaction area. The vehicle employs innovative lighting effects and E-Ink elements to enhance the interaction between the vehicle and the driver. The rear lights feature 3D-printed light elements for a unique depth effect.

The interior showcases the next generation of BMW iDrive, promising a unique digital user experience that seamlessly blends the real and virtual worlds. Moreover, the car's reduced carbon footprint throughout its lifecycle is a testament to its sustainability efforts, with increased use of secondary raw materials and a fully-electric drivetrain featuring sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology. The BMW Panoramic Vision, Central Display, and multifunction steering wheel buttons enable seamless interaction between the driver and the vehicle. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant offers voice control for added convenience.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse is manufactured at the eco-friendly Debrecen plant, minimizing fossil fuel usage and maximizing the use of sustainable materials. The vehicle focuses on energy efficiency during its usage phase, optimizing weight, air resistance, rolling resistance, and heat management for the electric drivetrain, utilizing the sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology.

Significant advancements in BMW's eDrive technology, including round battery cells with higher energy density, are expected to increase charging speed by up to 30 per cent and boost range by up to 30 per cent. These innovations aim to enhance overall vehicle efficiency by up to 25 per cent.
