We compare the Sierra’s score to the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Citroen C3 Aircross, and the Citroen Basalt.
Bharat NCAP has released crash test ratings for Tata Sierra yesterday and it received a 5 star safety rating for both adult and child occupant safety. Till date 30 cars have been crash tested by BCAP and we take a look at how the Sierra’s rivals have fared.
We compare the Sierra’s score to the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Citroen C3 Aircross, and the Citroen Basalt. The final score covers adult occupant protection and child occupant protection. The tests include frontal offset deformable barrier, side movable deformable barrier, and side pole impact and each of these cars have undergone all these tests.

Let’s begin with the Tata Sierra. The Tata Sierra earned 5 stars in adult occupant protection with 31.14 out of 32 points. In the frontal offset test at 64 km/h, it scored 15.14 out of 16; the driver dummy received good protection for head, neck, pelvis, thighs, and feet, and adequate for chest and tibiae. The side movable deformable barrier test gave 16 out of 16 with good protection across body regions, and the side pole test rated OK. For child occupant protection, it scored 44.73 out of 49 and 5 stars; dynamic tests scored 23.73 out of 24, child restraint system installation 12 out of 12.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris also secured 5 stars in adult protection at 31.66 out of 32. Frontal offset scored 15.66 out of 16 with good protection for driver head, neck, pelvis, thighs, feet, and adequate for chest and tibiae; passenger got good across parameters.
Side tests achieved 16 out of 16 with good protection, pole OK. Child protection reached 43 out of 49 for 5 stars, with 24 out of 24 dynamic, 12 out of 12 installation.

The Citroen C3 Aircross (5-seater) got 5 stars in adult protection at 27.05 out of 32. Frontal offset scored 11.05 out of 16 with marginal to good for pelvis, legs, chest; side barrier 16 out of 16 good, pole OK. Child protection scored 40 out of 49 for 4 stars.

The Citroen Basalt received 4 stars in adult protection at 26.19 out of 32. Frontal offset was 10.19 out of 16 with marginal to adequate ratings; side barrier and pole scored 16 out of 16 good. Child protection was 35.90 out of 49 for 4 stars.
The Tata Sierra leads with highest adult score, followed by the Victoris; both top child scores. C3 Aircross trails in adult frontal but strong side impact score, while the Basalt comes in last place. Here's the table to put things into perspective.
