Step back in time with the BSA Gold Star 650, a timeless motorcycle that's equal parts nostalgia and modernity
The iconic BSA Gold Star 650 has made a grand return to India. Prices start from, ₹2.99 lakh and this makes it quite an interesting proportion for Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. Launched today, the BSA Gold Star 650 is a slightly modern interpretation of a classic motorcycle. Here are the top 5 key highlights you should know about this motorcycle.
The BSA Gold Star 650's design is a love letter to classic motorcycle fans. The teardrop-shaped fuel tank, single seat, and chrome accents evoke a sense of nostalgia. At the same time, the clean lines and retro flair ensure it looks fresh and contemporary. This design approach ensures that the BSA Gold Star 650 remains instantly recognisable as a BSA from any angle. Classic elements such as wire-spoke wheels, a timeless circular headlight with modern daytime running lights, and a sleek teardrop fuel tank evoke the iconic spirit of the 1950s and 60s BSA Gold Star, while still feeling fresh and contemporary. The bike comes in 6 colour options. There are 2 colours with silver chrome one of which is the top of the line.

Beneath the classic exterior of the BSA Gold Star 650 a modern powertrain. The BSA Gold Star 650 is equipped with a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. With 45 bhp and 55 Nm, it shows characteristics of a typical long-stroke thumper. It should be ideal for cruising but more on that in our complete review coming soon. The company states that 60% of the 55 Nm torque is available at 1,800 rpm. The bike gets a 5-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. This engine has some nice details like the air-cooling fins on a liquid-cooled motor to keep its classic look intact. The radiator is also well-hidden with a black finish and does not spoil the classic look.
The BSA Gold Star 650 has a double-cradle frame which is the traditional way to mount an engine to a bike and keeps the bike true to its roots. The telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers ensure the costs are low in the suspension department and the look remains classic. The suspension travel is decent with 120 mm at the front and 108 mm at the rear. Lastly, it gets spoke wheels with tube tyres. Braking hardware is modern with Brembo disc brakes and dual-channel ABS coming as standard.
The BSA Gold Star 650 may look classic, but it doesn't compromise on functionality. The semi-digital instrument cluster keeps riders informed, while the halogen headlamp adds to the retro appeal. Additional features include a slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, and a USB charging port for convenience.
