BYD India has achieved a significant milestone in the country, delivering 200 units of the Seal electric sedan in one day, across different cities. BYD also received more than 1,000 bookings for the Seal since it was launched on March 5, 2024.
Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, said, “The BYD SEAL's strong reception in India underscores the growing demand for premium electric vehicles that offer a seamless blend of performance, sustainability, style, and value.”
The Seal is BYD’s third model in India after the e6 MPV and Atto 3 SUV. It is available in three variants – Dynamic, Premium and Performance. The Seal has two battery pack options, and the smaller 61.44 kWh battery pack is only available with the Dynamic variant. The larger 82.56 kWh battery pack is available with the Premium and Performance variants. While the Dynamic and Premium variants come with rear-wheel drive configuration, the Performance variant gets all-wheel drive.
Depending on the variant, the Seal has an ARAI-certified range between 510 - 650 km on a single charge. With its dual-motor setup, the Performance variant develops 523 bhp and 670 Nm and can do the 0-100 kmph run in 3.8 seconds. The Dynamic and Premium variants, which have a single-motor setup, produce 201 bhp with 310 Nm and 308 bhp with 360 Nm, respectively.
The BYD Seal features a rotating 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto but wired Apple CarPlay. It also gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, two wireless chargers, power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, a 12-speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof and more.
Prices for the BYD Seal start at ₹41 lakh and go up to ₹53 lakh. It rivals the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (₹46.05 lakh), Kia EV6 (₹60.95 - 65.95 lakh), Volvo XC40 Recharge (₹54.95 - 57.90 lakh) and BMW i4 (₹72.50 lakh). All prices ex-showroom, India.
