Japanese tech giant Sony Group Corporation has created waves at CES 2025 with the unveiling of its first electric vehicle, the AFEELA 1. During the company's keynote presentation, Sony Group President, COO, and CFO Hiroki Totoki framed the launch within Sony's broader Creative Entertainment Vision.
The luxury electric vehicle will be manufactured at a cutting-edge facility in Ohio, with initial sales targeting California. While production begins in 2025, the first customer deliveries are slated for mid-2026.
The AFEELA 1 will launch with two distinct versions: the Origin model starting at $89,900, and the premium Signature trim at $102,900. Both models come with a three-year complimentary subscription package that includes select advanced features and functionality.
At the heart of AFEELA 1 is Sony's technological prowess, featuring an AI-powered interface that provides real-time visualisation of the vehicle's surroundings. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) seamlessly integrates with entertainment features, while an interactive personal agent enables natural conversation and vehicle control. The system also helps optimise navigation for ideal travel times.
The vehicle's sophisticated user interface (UI) transforms the driving experience with an extensive entertainment ecosystem. Passengers can enjoy content from leading providers including Amazon Music, Spotify, Audible, TikTok, and Zoom. According to company representatives, the platform will continue to expand with additional entertainment options.
California residents can now be among the first to own an AFEELA 1 by placing a fully refundable $200 deposit through the official website.
