Chinese manufacturer Zongshen is set to introduce its latest sportbike, the Cyclone RC 700 R, in mid-September 2024. The new bike, initially previewed in 2023 as the RC 680, has undergone significant design changes, and the end result quite strikingly similar to the MV Agusta Superveloce. Yes, thus reinstating the statement “Chinese copy” as mentioned before.
The latest virtual renderings of the RC 700 R reveal a retro-styled fairing and round headlight, reminiscent of the Italian classic. However, Zongshen has made some notable departures from its original concept. The single-sided swingarm has been replaced with a two-sided aluminum unit, complemented by an impressive undercarriage. A unique LED ring tail light encircles the round exhaust at the rear, though its thermal insulation remains to be confirmed.

At the heart of the RC 700 R is an inline four-cylinder engine based on Honda's 650cc unit, familiar from the CB650R and CBR650R. Zongshen has reportedly increased the displacement to 674cc by modifying the crankshaft, boosting the output to a claimed 102 bhp. While complete technical specifications and pricing are yet to be announced, it is expected to come with all modern electronics, including lean angle-sensitive rider aids.
