The Citroen Basalt will be available only with a petrol engine.
Citroen unveiled its fifth product for the Indian market with the new Basalt Coupe-SUV. While prices are yet to be revealed, the French manufacturer has showcased its spec sheet and with it some critical information as well. For petrolheads, good news – the Citroen Basalt will be available with a naturally aspirated and a turbo petrol engine option, wherein the latter is available in two states of tune –just like the Citroen C3 duos.
Starting with the naturally aspirated engine option, the PureTech 82 produces 80 bhp/ 115 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. With this setup, Citroen claims the Basalt will deliver 18.5 km of mileage, which is commendable for an SUV of its size, if not very impressive.

Citroen is offering the Basalt with the PureTech 110 turbo engine in two tuning states—110 bhp/ 190 Nm and 110 bhp/205 Nm. With the former setup, the turbo mill is paired to a 6-speed MT and can deliver 19.5 kmpl of mileage. The 6-speed AT variant comes with a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.7 kmpl
Prices for the upcoming Citroen Basalt will be announced this coming week. And if you’re wondering what other alternatives you could have for a Basalt, Tata is also gearing up to launch the Curvv coupe-SUV.
