Like the C3 Aircross, the Citroën Basalt gets You, Plus and Max trims.

Citroën India has launched its latest model in India, the Basalt, at a starting price of ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). While the rest of the prices are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, the French brand has revealed which variants the Basalt gets. As of now, Citroën has only revealed a few features of each variant, while the full list is expected to be announced with the remaining prices.

Citroen

The Basalt, like the C3 Aircross, is available in three trims – You, Plus and Max. The base-spec You trim is only available with the 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Plus is available with both engine options – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2-litre turbo-petrol. Meanwhile, the Max trim is available only with the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Over and above the You variant, the Basalt Plus petrol 5MT gets the new Colour Touch on the front bumper and C-Pillar, dual-tone interior, armrest for rear seats, auto-folding ORVMs, 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, 7-inch digital instrument cluster and tyre pressure monitoring system. In addition to the Plus petrol 5MT variant, the Plus turbo-petrol 6MT and 6AT variants get LED headlamps, front armrest, rear AC vents, automatic climate control and engine auto-start-stop functionality.

The top-spec Basalt Max turbo-petrol 6MT and 6AT variants get 16-inch alloy wheels, a dual-tone roof, a smart tilt cushion (AT only), an advanced comfort headrest, connected car tech and a reverse camera, in addition to the Plus trim.

Citroen

The Basalt gets two engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 81 bhp and 115 Nm and comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The other engine is the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 109 bhp and 190 Nm (205 Nm with AT). This engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The coupe SUV from Citroën rivals the likes of the upcoming Tata Curvv as well as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor and Citroën C3 Aircross.
