This decision comes a few days after the government announced to ban fuel sales to vehicles above 15 years in the capital.

The Delhi government will intensify enforcement against petrol, diesel, and CNG vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates. The Transport Minister, Pankaj Singh, made the announcement as part of a 100-day plan that was chalked out in a high-level meeting.

The crackdown will target heavy commercial vehicles using slip roads to evade checkpoints and petrol pumps supplying fuel to vehicles without proper certification. The announcement follows Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa's earlier decision to ban fuel sales to vehicles older than 15 years starting March 31 due to pollution concerns. Singh also ordered additional enforcement staff deployment and called for more effective road safety compliance strategies.

This decision comes barely few days after the Delhi government announced ban on fuel sales for vehicle that are 15 year old.

While these steps are aimed at reducing pollution, their effectiveness has yet to be ascertained. Even if you ban the sales of petrol to 15-year-old vehicles in the city, one can easily take them to pumps located in NCR places, Noida and Gurugram, and fill up the tank.

In addition to the above, the Transport Minister also reviewed the status of live tracking systems for public transport and commercial vehicles. As per that, officials have been directed to speed up implementation of the above steps which will help improve passenger security, quicker.
