We at AckoDrive have acquired spy shots of the Tata Punch out on test. But, is it the EV?
It’s safe to say that Tata Motors has taken quite a significant lead when it comes to electric vehicles in India. It was only recently that the company announced the successful deployment of 1 lakh Tata EVs. The company currently sells three electric vehicles in the country - Nexon EV, Tigor EV and Tiago EV. Soon there could be a fourth member joining the club in the form of the Punch EV.
Although the test mule in the spy shots doesn’t tell much, it is certain that this is the Tata Punch. Several other test mules of the Punch EV have been spotted recently. In fact, one particular spy shot revealed the Punch EV at a charging station. The spy shots acquired by AckoDrive could very well be of the Punch EV, given that the image with the rear angle of Punch doesn’t seem to show an exhaust pipe. Needless to say, there’s a new version of the Punch on its way.
Several online reports suggest that the Punch EV is likely to arrive this festive season. It will be based on Tata's ALFA platform which also underpins the Altroz. It will get all the updates that the Punch CNG recently got and will compete against the Citroen eC3, which is priced between Rs 11.50 lakh-12.43 lakh (ex-showroom).
