First single-cylinder motorcycle from Ducati to launch in India.
Ducati India has set the motorcycle community ablaze with a recent Instagram teaser. The silhouette of the Hypermotard with the caption “Single, And Ready To Mingle.” We are excited about this launch and here are some of the details about it.
This supermoto powerhouse promises a unique blend of power, agility, and the undeniable style synonymous with Ducati. The Hypermotard 698 Mono sheds the traditional Ducati bodywork, embracing a minimalist and aggressive supermoto design language. This translates to a sleek and sporty motorcycle. Ducati's meticulous design approach eliminates unnecessary bulk, resulting in a sharp and focused aesthetic. It has a tall and flat seat like a dirt bike. A raised front mudguard adds to the bike's aggressive stance The sharp tail section completes the minimalist look and contributes to the bike's lightweight feel.
While the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono embraces a new design language, it doesn't forget Ducati's heritage Sporty and lightweight wheels showcase Ducati's focus on performance and agility. Dual side-mounted exhaust pipes, a signature element of the Hypermotard family and Ducati racing bikes add a touch of aggression and performance flair. The Hypermotard 698 Mono features a unique lighting setup that contributes to its overall personality.
Also to add to this Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE takes the design a step further with a special "Graffiti" look. Graphics inspired by street art add a touch of urban style, making this a motorcycle that truly stands out. We are not sure if Ducati will get this to India in the first lot.
Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is the all-new Superquadro Mono engine. This is a significant departure for Ducati which is known for its twin and four-cylinder engines. This 659cc single-cylinder unit has a maximum output of 77.5 hp and 67 Nm of torque. A detuned version is available for A2 license holders but that is unlikely to come to our country. The race exhaust option bumps power up to 85.6 bhp, making it the most powerful single-cylinder production bike on the market. The engine even features Ducati's famous desmodromic valve technology.
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono has a lightweight trellis frame, likely constructed from high-grade steel or aluminium, which keeps the weight down. The suspension system comprises a fully adjustable 45 mm Marzocchi USD fork and a Sachs monoshock. The high-performance braking comes courtesy of a Bosch-Brembo ABS 10.3ME Cornering system paired along with a single 330mm front disc with a Brembo M4.32 radial calliper and 240mm rear disc. The 5-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres.
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono, with its aggressive supermoto design, innovative single-cylinder engine, lightweight chassis, high-performance suspension, and advanced electronics package, is poised to be a game-changer in the Indian supermoto segment. It is expected to be expensive as unlike most other bikes which are imported from Thailand with whom we have a FTA, the Hypermotard 698 Mono might be imported from Italy as a CBU.. Stay tuned for the official launch date and pricing details for this exciting addition to the Ducati India lineup.
