Besides their radical outlook, the concept bikes were almost production-looking which makes it all the more enticing.
Adventure bikes were the flavour of EICMA 2024. Every manufacturer had one or two rugged-looking concept bikes on display in Milan. From Royal Enfield to Ultraviolette Automotive, the list was endless. We’ve boiled down five of the most visually striking concepts, that got us pretty excited, and some of them are slated to hit production soon:
Starting with the most rad-looking adventure bike from the show was Benelli’s TRK 902 Xplorer Concept. Positioned above the existing TRK 502 and TRK 702, and built on an entirely new platform – the new TRK 902 Xplorer will be powered by a brand new 904 cc parallel-twin engine that will be good enough for 100 bhp and 90 Nm output. While full feature details are yet to be revealed, the production version is expected to launch in 2025 with a fully digital TFT display and modern connectivity features. After months of anticipation and several delays, Hero MotoCorp finally confirmed the arrival of the bigger XPulse 421, by previewing its concept through sketches, and clay models. Hero MotoCorp stated to us that the production model will hit Indian markets in mid-2025. The new adventure motorcycle will compete against the likes of the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure R and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. It will be powered by a 420 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, that is expected to produce between 43 to 45 bhp. To know more about the same, head to the link here.
One of the most exciting adventure concepts to be showcased at the EICMA 2024 was the new F 450 GS Concept. What made it so captivating to look at was the fact it featured styling cues from the G 1300 GS including its X-shaped headlight. Coupled with the fact that it will be powered by a 450 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that will produce 48 bhp, and weigh just 175 kg (which is lighter than the current-gen KTM 390 Adventure) - the upcoming BMW F 450 GS promises to be quite the formidable adventure bike option. Just like the current BMW G 310 GS, the upcoming F 450 S will also be manufactured by TVS. And it will launch in India by early 2026. To know more head to the link here.
Besides ushering in its brand new EV offering, the Flying Flea, with the debut of the C6, Royal Enfield also displayed the second version of the electric Himalayan test bed. The new bike showcased significant evolution from last year's version and boasted styling which closely aligned with the Himalayan 450. The prototype also showcased improved packaging for its battery and motor, along with a bunch of premium hardware components. However, Royal Enfield indicates that the production version is still in development, with at least two more iterations planned.
Besides officially commencing its business in Europe and the UK, Ultraviolette also had on display a nice, swanky, rugged-looking concept adventure bike. Called the Concept X, it is based on the same platform as the brand’s F77 Mach 2 electric sport bike. However, with more premium underpinnings, coupled with several optional add-ons - the UV Concept X looked quite delicious and practical. These characters further make us hopeful that Ultraviolette Automotive might launch this bike in the future. However, UV has not mentioned anything about the bike’s launch, but if you want to learn more about Concept X, head to the link here.
