EICMA 2024: KTM 390 SMC R Showcased

Alongside the 390 Enduro R, KTM also pulled the covers off its latest creation - the thrilling 390 SMC R, a supermoto motorcycle that's guaranteed to turn heads. Unlike the off-road focused Enduro R, the SMC R keeps matters street-focused, but not in the manner the 390 Duke does.

The 390 SMC R looks visually similar to the Enduro R featuring the same striking flat LED headlight, raised fender, and sleek single-piece seat. The bike's angular bodywork, complete with tank extensions and compact side panels, gives it an aggressive, modern appearance that KTM fans will love. The underpinnings will be top of the shelf too with fully adjustable WP Apex USD fork and monoshock. 

What makes the SMC R special? Unlike its dirt-loving cousin, this supermoto comes equipped with road-specific 17-inch wheels and sticky tyres, perfect for carving up city streets and twisty roads. Under the sharp bodywork sits a powerful 399 cc engine – the same heart that powers the popular 390 Duke where it produces 45.3 bhp/ 39 Nm. The power figures for this street warrior are still under wraps, but riders can expect similar performance as the 390 Duke, but with a different tune that will match the bike's bold appearance. Besides the smooth six-speed transmission with bi-directional quickshifter and assist and slipper clutch will continue as it is. 

Tech lovers won't be disappointed either. The bike is expected to feature KTM's latest 8.8-inch horizontal color TFT display, bringing modern connectivity to the supermoto segment. While this exciting new model is creating buzz worldwide, Indian motorcycle enthusiasts might have to admire it from afar – KTM currently has no plans to bring either the 390 SMC R or its Enduro R sibling to the Indian market.
