The updated Honda CL500 has been aesthetically revised to look livelier.
Alongside introducing the world to its first supercharged V3 engine, Honda displayed a few updated motorcycles at EICMA 2024. The one that caught our attention was the Honda CL500, a rugged-looking scrambler that is A2-license compatible and powered by a 471 cc parallel-twin engine. The CL500 was updated recently, and the upcoming 2025 model builds on those updates to make the bike more comfortable and aesthetically appealing to youngsters.
For starters, there are two new paint options—Pearl Dusk Yellow and Matt Fresco Brown. The former option (which also happens to be our favourite) gives the bike a nice, vibrant hue. However, the blacked-out underpinnings and frame keep matters subdued and dark. Other eye-catching details on the bike include the new upswept dual-exit exhaust muffler and the new, bigger 12-litre round fuel tank in the new colours.
The seat height has dropped by a few mm to 790 mm on the ergonomics front. The seat itself is now made up of new urethane material, which promises to enhance comfort. With a new seat, the positioning of the foot pegs has also been altered for a more comfortable posture.

Mechanically, the 471 cc, parallel-twin cylinder engine continues as it is. However, Honda has revised the PGM-FI injection mapping to comply with the latest Euro 5+ emission norms. The intake system has also been changed, but the output remains the same – 45.9 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 43.4 Nm at 6,250 rpm. To improve acceleration, the rear sprocket now gets 41 teeth, instead of the 40 from before.

On the features front, Honda claims that the LCD dash has been updated for better visibility under direct sunlight. Besides that, both the headlight and tail light are now LED units. Lastly, the new 2025 Honda CL500 will now feature ESS, or Emergency Stop Signal, which will see the rear indicators blink under panic braking situations.
Will Honda launch the 2025 CL500 in India? There has been no communication from the brand on these lines at all. However, Honda is prepping for the launch of an all-electric Activa in our country, and the brand has already set up a new manufacturing line for the same.
