Skoda is yet to decide which EV, the Elroq or Enyaq, it will launch in India first.
Skoda Auto currently has two electric vehicles in its lineup – the Elroq and the Enyaq. Of the two, Skoda Auto India displayed the smaller Elroq at the 2025 Auto Expo. However, it is considering launching one of the two EVs in India later this year. It has also been confirmed that both are on the cards to be launched in India.
In an interview with Acko Drive, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, “The only reason we still did not bring one (EV) is that we are waiting for the government policies to be launched finally, the CAFE III, as well as the subsidy support because we are anyway doing our local, fully localised, CKD (completely knocked down), which needs to come later. But based on this policy, we will finally decide whether the car parts and components car or a CBU (completely built unit) car is under the policy. And once we decide, we take it on.”
It remains to be seen which of the two EVs will come to India first but at least it is now confirmed that both will be coming to India at some point in time. The fact that the Elroq was displayed at the Auto Expo, despite some units of the Enyaq being in India already, indicates that Skoda may intend to launch the smaller of the two EVs first. Having said that, it made more sense for Skoda to display the Elroq made its global debut in October last year and is the latest EV to join its portfolio.
The Elroq is a compact electric SUV that will rival the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW iX1 L and BYD Atto 3. It has three battery pack options – 55 kWh, 63 kWh, and 82 kWh – and offers a range of up to 581 km.
The Enyaq is available in two body styles – SUV and Coupe SUV. It’s still unsure whether Skoda will bring the Enyaq or Enyaq Coupe to India. Skoda’s flagship electric SUV made its India debut at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The Enyaq also got a refresh in 2025 and that could make its way to India. The Enyaq, if launched, will rival the likes of the Kia EV6, Mercedes-Benz EQA and Volvo C40 Recharge.
