The updated Gurkha gets many much-needed modern amenities.
Ahead of the new Gurkha’s launch later this month, Force Motors has revealed another teaser of the rugged off-roader. While the first teaser showed exterior design details of the Gurkha, the new teaser shows important details about the interior of the off-roader.
The updated Gurkha will have the same dashboard as before but gets much-needed modern amenities. It will get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, auto start/stop, knobs for differential locks, a rotary knob for the drive selector as well as knobs for the HVAC controls.

Interestingly, the design of the digital instrument cluster is eerily similar to the one used on the Renault Kiger. On the right of the screen, the cluster gets a digital fuel meter and on the left, it gets a digital temperature gauge. The only difference between Kiger’s cluster and Gurkha’s cluster is the layout of the screen. The digital instrument cluster is also likely to have an animation of the Gurkha on startup.
Furthermore, the teaser also shows the Gurkha will get the engine start/stop feature with the button to turn it off placed below the infotainment system. Speaking of which, it looks like an aftermarket unit with touch-based buttons on the left side.
Unlike the previous Gurkha, the new model will get a knob for selecting between the different four-wheel drive modes, replacing the lever. However, it will retain the two rotary levers for locking the differentials as well as a manual handbrake.

The teaser also confirms the presence of a diesel engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It also confirms that the 5-door Gurkha will get three rows of seats with a bench for the second row and two captain’s chairs for the third row. However, neither of the last two rows gets armrests and the second row only has head restraints for two passengers.
While a launch date is not yet confirmed, the Gurkha is expected to be launched ahead of its media drives later this month. The current Gurkha is priced at ₹15.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and the updated 3-door version is likely to cost a bit more. The 5-door version is likely to cost somewhere near the ₹18 lakh mark.
