Force Motors, one of India’s best-known commercial vehicle makers, has teamed up with Rosmerta Auto Recycling to introduce a new authorised scrappage initiative for eligible end-of-life vehicles. The companies hope to support responsible disposal and also recover recyclable materials. Force Motors signed an MoU with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways earlier this year to support the implementation of its scrappage scheme.
Under the partnership, Force vehicle owners in the Delhi-NCR region will be able to scrap them at Rosmerta’s registered scrapping facility, when they have reached the end of their usable lives. The scheme could be expanded to additional parts of the country in the future.
The move supports the central government’s efforts to replace older commercial vehicles with newer, less polluting ones. In a statement, Force Motors said ensuring the responsible replacement of ageing vehicles is as important as the initial sale and service over their lifetime.
Rosmerta’s authorised scrappage facility will help owners follow organised processes and enable the recovery and recycling of potentially useful materials, giving them a second life to further help the environment and economy. Vehicles taken to the facility will be documented and evaluated, before being prepared for scrappage. Owners will receive an official Certificate of Deposit which can be used to claim benefits on a future vehicle purchase.
Talking about the initiative, Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Force Motors Ltd, said, “This is another practical step in our efforts to improve resource efficiency and promote more responsible practices across the automotive lifecycle”.
Other commercial vehicle makers in India including Eicher Trucks and Buses and Ashok Leyland have also partnered with Rosmerta this year for similar initiatives.
