With multiple film effects, lens effects and gradation controls to choose from, Fujifilm says users get more than 100,000 combinations of creative style settings.
Fujifilm has brought its new feature-rich Instax Wide Evo hybrid instant camera to India, priced at ₹47,999. It will go on sale across India on February 20. Prebooking is now available on the company’s website and at select retailers in India, and customers who prebook will receive a free film pack worth ₹1,299. A new Instax Wide format Brushed Metallic film pack with unique gradations and a metallic texture has also been launched. The company launched a budget instant camera, the Instax mini SE, in July last year.
The new Instax Wide Evo combines analogue and digital camera capabilities, and can print photos on Fujifilm’s double-sized Wide format cards. An LCD screen on the back can be used to shoot photos that are saved to a microSD card, and users can choose to print their favourites. The unit can also be used to print photos from a smartphone. It is available only in black, with metal accents. A shoulder strap is included and a leather carry case is sold separately.
Manual dials on the sides can be used to select from 10 film effects such as Double Exposure and Colour Shift, as well as 10 lens effects such as Vivid and Sepia. Any combination of these can be applied when shooting a photo, giving users choices of up to 100 styles. The Instax Wide Evo also introduces Degree Control, which allows for fine-grained adjustments of colour gradation and light intensity for delicate tonal adjustments. A wide angle toggle allows for dramatic framing, and there are also six film style framing options including Cinematic and Date Stamp. All together, these variables allow for over 100,000 combinations of photographic style choices.
The physical shutter lever on the front is a callback to classic analogue cameras. There’s also a small mirror for framing selfies. A manual hand crank on the right is used to begin printing photos, which emerge from the top of the Instax Wide Evo and are fully developed in around 90 seconds.
There’s also a companion app for iOS and Android, which lets users see every filter and effect applied to each photo and also easily share them to social media. A Discover feed shows creative compositions from other users to get new ideas for creative expression. Combinations of settings can also be saved and replicated.
