Samsung Display's latest automotive display technology was front and centre at this year's Gamescom expo in Cologne, Germany. The company's 9.4-inch round OLED display was showcased at British automaker MINI's booth as part of a cylindrical tower installation dubbed the "MINI Incubator."
The MINI incubator, inspired by high-tech lab settings, pays homage to science fiction culture. The OLED cylindrical tower comprised ten Samsung OLED displays and was at the heart of MINI's main exhibition booth.
"This year, we want to focus on the technical highlight in the interior of our new MINI family, our round OLED display, through a playful and digital experience. Science fiction as an ode to the future is the perfect setting for our innovations", says Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.
In addition to the incubator, Samsung showcased various OLED products optimized for automotive applications. These included eco-friendly OLEDs with minimal plastic, infinite contrast ratios, flexible form factors, and blue light reduction features. Gamers visiting Samsung's booth could also experience an interactive OLED finder zone.
"We look forward to providing our customers with even more stunning display experiences with Samsung Display's unrivalled OLED technology in the mobility sector," said Brad Jung, vice president and head of the Mobile Display Marketing Team at Samsung Display.
This marks the second consecutive year of MINI's sponsorship and participation at Gamescom, the world's largest gaming expo, where the company showcased a unique mobility experience to visitors through the MINI Interaction Unit.
