In a bid to reach more than 1 billion global users every month, Google has announced the expansion of its AI Overviews feature to more than 100 countries. This marks the largest expansion of the feature since its launch.
"Starting this week, AI Overviews will begin rolling out in more than 100 countries and territories around the world. With this latest expansion, AI Overviews will have more than 1 billion global users every month," Srinivasan (Cheenu) Venkatachary

The tech giant is broadening the AI Overviews in Search's language support beyond English, and introducing support for Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Users can now activate AI Overviews regardless of their preferred search language.
According to Google's blog post, this initiative aims to "better connect people with the products and brands that are helpful to their searches."
To recall, originally launched as the Search Generative Experience (SGE) in 2023, the feature underwent rebranding before its public release in May.
Following recent reports of advertising integration, Google confirmed that ads will appear in designated slots within the AI Overviews interface. The company emphasised these will be clearly labeled to differentiate between organic and sponsored content.
While global users will see ads only in browser-based searches, users in the US will experience additional advertising features on mobile devices.
