The Hero Mavrick 440 starts at a tempting ₹1.99 lakh, packing a powerful 440cc engine. The bike is not a rebadged Harley-Davidson X440 as it takes a different approach while using the same engine. The Mavrick 440 is powered by a 440cc air-/oil-cooled ‘TorqX’ engine, delivering 27 bhp at 6000 rpm and 36 Nm at 4000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Strong low end is what it is banking on. But before you jump the gun, consider these other options if you think you might need a different riding flavour.

Jawa 350

The Jawa 350 falls into the classic bike segment, and it's worth taking a look as it has recently received an update. Priced at ₹2.15 lakh, it may seem expensive, but the bike now offers a better package than before, with classic bike charm more deeply ingrained than the Hero Mavrick 440. Suzuki V-Strom SX

Adventure motorcycles are the all-rounders of the bike world, and when you're investing ₹2 lakh on a bike, why not consider the Suzuki V-Strom SX, priced at ₹2.14 lakh? This is comparable in price to the top variant of the Hero Mavrick 440 but offers longer travel suspension that is expected to provide comfort on both good and bad roads. Despite having similar engine performance, the V-Strom features a 250cc engine, so we anticipate better fuel economy. It's worth noting that while the seat height may seem intimidating, it shouldn't deter you from considering this motorcycle.

KTM 200 Duke

KTM is the name you go for if you are looking for performance. The 200 Duke comes right at ₹1.96 lakh. The bike has the proven punchy nature and puts down 24 bhp and 19 Nm manically. Things are simple with the Duke and you either like it at first sight or you skip it. Do note that the 200 is due for a generation change, which will take place soon enough.

Triumph Speed 400

The Speed 400 has 39 bhp and 37 Nm. It gets a more sophisticated design. Priced at ₹ 2.33 lakh, it's just ₹ 9,000 more than the top-spec model of the Hero Mavrick 440. What the Triumph offers is an elegant and punchy riding experience that feels great on almost all days. Plus, it is a looker, with neat touches and incredible attention to detail.

Royal Enfield Bullet 350

The main competitor of the Hero Mavrick 440 is the Royal Enfield Bullet 350, priced from ₹1.74 lakh to ₹2.16 lakh. The Bullet 350 offers various colour options at different prices, while specifications and features remain consistent. There's a ₹24,000 difference between the base models of the Bullet and Mavrick 440. The top-spec models of both bikes differ by just ₹8,000.

It features a 349 cc J-Series engine producing 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Mechanically similar to the Classic 350, it offers variants with single-channel or dual-channel ABS, digital fuel gauge, and a 13-litre fuel tank. The handlebar design differs slightly, offering a more upright riding position. Prices range from ₹ 1,73,562 for the base variant to ₹ 2,15,801 for the top variant. Visual updates include a new tank logo and a shorter, square-ish rear fender. It features a 41 mm telescopic fork, twin shock absorbers, and larger tyres.
