The upcoming motorcycle will be launched in India next month.
Honda has released a teaser video giving us a glimpse of its upcoming product. Details regarding the upcoming bike are scarce but we expect it to be a new motorcycle in the 160-180cc segment. In this space, Honda has three bikes in its current portfolio which includes the Honda Unicorn 160, XBlade and the Hornet 2.0. Going by the teaser, it’s clear that the new Honda bike will not be a typical commuter and will have slightly aggressive and sporty styling.
Our guess is that the new Honda motorcycle will be a replacement for the XBlade since it hasn’t received much sales success. It will be positioned above the Unicorn 160, a product that still garners good sales numbers for the Japanese brand. Honda might utilise the same strategy as it did with Honda Shine 125, a standard variant and a SP variant. The new Honda bike could be called the Unicorn 160 SP and it will share a lot of components with its sibling.
Powering the bike would be the same 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine as seen on the Unicorn and it develops 12.7 bhp and 14 Nm of torque. We expect Honda engineers to tune this motor to extract a bit more performance. The new motorcycle will be unveiled to the media in a couple of days and India launch is expected in the second half of August, 2023. The new Honda 160cc bike will rival the Bajaj Pulsar P150, TVS Apache RTR 160 2V and the Yamaha FZ-S. Expected pricing for the upcoming Honda 160cc bike could be between Rs 1.10 and 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
