In concert with former Realme India boss Madhav Sheth, Honor is set to make a comeback in India.
Formerly the subsidiary of Chinese tech behemoth Huawei, Honor is back from the dead and is on the cusp of its relaunch in India. Huawei and Honor's smartphone business was gutted in light of sanctions by the US against it. This resulted in Honor separating from the Chinese tech giant. On top of this, things became very tough for Huawei not just in the West but also in India thanks to a border skirmish between the Chinese army and the Indian army in June 2020. Now, in concert with former Realme India boss Madhav Sheth, Honor is set to make a comeback in India.
According to a report by The Mobile Indian, the Honor 90 is set to be launched in India for a price point of around Rs 35,000. The phone will be launched soon as Acko Drive can also independently verify that Honor India was hosting a pre-briefing for the media in Jaipur for the relaunch of the brand in India. This means the device will be competing with the likes of the OnePlus Nord 3 5G, the iQOO Neo 7 Pro and the Poco F5 5G. This comes after the Honor 90 was launched in China for between Rs 29,000 and Rs 35,000. Alongside the Honor 90, the Honor 90 Pro was also launched.
The Honor 90 is set to be launched with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, coupled with a 6.7" full HD+ curved OLED display offering 120Hz variable refresh rate and a peak brightness level of 1,600 nits. This phone will also be offered with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage which would mean that it will have more memory and storage than its rivals.
Honor's devices have been playing up its cameras and the 90 will have a triple camera array. Interestingly, the main camera will have a 200-megapixel sensor, 12-megapixel ultra wide camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There will also be a 50-megapixel front camera. It will also have a 5,000mAh battery with support for 66-watt wired charging. Honor was last seen in India in 2020 after which Huawei sold the brand. Huawei itself has stopped selling devices in India.
