The upcoming full-electric offering from the Swedish brand will be based on KTM’s Freeride Platform.
The upcoming 2024 EICMA will witness the launch and display of several brand-new motorcycles. From Royal Enfield to MV Agusta and many more, the list of OEMs slated to go all-out guns blazing will be endless. But the one most prominent manufacturer who is set to make quite the statement on the show floors of Milan this year will be KTM. The Austrian brand is slated to make a comeback to the most popular motorcycle event after 5 years, to showcase not just one or two, but thirteen brand new spanking motorcycles. Closely following up will be its fellow Pierre Mobility group-subsidy brand, Husqvarna. Wherein the Swedish marque is slated to launch its first electric motorcycle.

Yup, you read that right. Husqvarna is finally going to jump on the EV bandwagon. And while the brand has been very tightlipped about what this new bike will all be about. The press release gave us a hint with the statement, “all-new, pioneering motorcycle.” While we still don’t know what the bike will be called officially, or what its genre will be. As per patent documents released by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety earlier this year, this upcoming bike has been registered under the name, “Pioneer” in the US market.
The document further revealed that the upcoming Husqvarna Pioneer electric bike will be based on the same platform as the KTM’s Freeride. And just like the latter, the Pioneer will also be powered by a 5.54 kWh battery that is expected to produce around 26 to 33 bhp. Additionally, both motorcycles will also be available with the same 660W on-board charger.

As for its genre, we still can’t say for sure. Earlier in 2021, Husqvarna had showcased the E-Pilen, which is a naked sport bike, unlike the off-road-oriented, street-legal Freeride. So, what will the upcoming Husqvarna Pioneer be? Stay tuned to this space, for we will be reporting live from the show floors of Milan and get you this information first-hand.
