Husqvarna has revealed the prototype iteration of the upcoming Svartpilen 801 in all its glory. Fitted with proper winter spike tyres to raid on a frozen icy lake, the images also reveal to a certain detail the kind of equipment the bike will boast. Based on the same platform that also underpins the KTM 790 Duke, the chassis and the engine of the bike will be shared albeit with certain upgrades.
For starters, the Svartpilen 801 equips the same tubular chassis, with adjustable front USD fork and monoshock, but the rear subframe is different. Similarly, this Husky will also use the 790 Duke’s parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine but the output is going to be marginally higher at 103.6 bhp. The 6-speed gearbox with bi-directional quickshifter will be carried over too.
However, just like the recently launched Svartpilen 401, the bigger Svartpilen 801 will also boast the same minimalistic scrambler aesthetics. Similar styling bits include the round headlight with an LED DRL ring, that distinct fuel tank shape, and a short tail section. We can also spot a headlight grille, which is expected to be available as an accessory. A bash plate, upswept exhaust, single-piece handlebar, and alloy wheels are some of the key highlights.
Features like a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, ride modes, traction control, and ABS with supermoto mode from the KTM 790 Duke will also make it to the bigger Svartpilen. And just like the larger-capacity Austrian, the Swedish motorcycle will also be limited to the international market, and the chances of it launching in India will be slim.
