iOS 18.3 Update Rolling Out, Brings Changes To AI Notification Summaries And More

Apple's latest iOS update, the iOS 18.3 update introduces significant modifications to its Apple Intelligence-powered Notification Summaries feature, after some recent criticism. The feature, which previously generated AI-powered summaries of news headlines, is now disabled by default and excluded from the News & Entertainment category. 

When reactivated, summaries will appear in italicised text to distinguish them from standard notifications and include a warning about potential errors.

Enhanced AI Functionality And Settings

The update marks a shift in Apple Intelligence implementation, transitioning from an opt-in to an opt-out model. iOS users who prefer not to use Apple's AI capabilities must now manually disable these features through the Apple Intelligence & Siri Settings menu. 

Visual Intelligence capabilities have been expanded, particularly for iPhone 16 users, enabling calendar event creation from images and improved recognition of flora and fauna.

Calculator And Bug Fixes

A notable restoration in iOS 18.3 is the return of repeated operation functionality in the Calculator app, addressing user feedback from the iOS 18 release. 

The latest iOS update also resolves various technical issues affecting Genmoji, HealthKit, and Writing Tools applications.

The iOS 18.3 update brings compatibility with all devices that support iOS 18, offering a more streamlined package compared to its predecessors while focusing on refinement and user experience improvements.
