Built on Citroën's CMP platform, the Basalt draws inspiration from the C3 Aircross compact SUV but sets itself apart with its distinctive coupe-like sloping roofline and reimagined rear profile. Teaser images hint at square-shaped tail lamps and a shark fin antenna, adding to the Basalt's unique aesthetic appeal. Expected to inherit design elements such as split headlamps, 17-inch alloys, and a range of dual-tone colour options from the C3 Aircross, the Basalt promises to make a statement on the road.
While specific details regarding the Basalt's interior features remain undisclosed, speculations suggest a comprehensive array of amenities. Anticipated highlights include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a digital instrument cluster, potentially complemented by a wireless charging pad, cooled front seats, and an electrically adjustable driver seat.
Powering the Basalt is likely to be Citroën's 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, a tried and tested powertrain seen in models such as the C3 and C3 Aircross SUV. Capable of delivering 109 bhp and 205 Nm of torque, the engine is expected to be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Upon its release, the Citroën Basalt Coupe SUV is poised to enter a competitive compact sedan segment, contending with rivals like the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia.
