There’s a production halt at JLR’s Solihull plant due to a critical supplier-side parts shortage. The two-week pause affects Range Rover production, though JLR is working to resolve the bottleneck.

Tata Motors’ UK-based subsidiary, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), has suspended manufacturing operations at its main Solihull facility due to a critical shortage of parts from a key supplier. The development triggered a sharp sell-off in the market, with Tata Motors shares crashing to their lowest level in the past one year on Friday.

The manufacturing halt is reportedly due to an acute shortage of critical components, marking a significant setback for the luxury carmaker as it struggles with supply chain volatility.

The news was confirmed by a JLR spokesperson in an official statement to the BBC. According to the company, a "part supply challenge" with a specific supplier forced the temporary closure of assembly lines for the highly profitable Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. While the automaker did not name the affected supplier, it maintained that it is working closely with them to resolve the bottleneck as quickly as possible.

The production pause is expected to last for nearly two weeks, strategically overlapping with the scheduled Easter holiday shutdown to minimise the net impact on annual output targets. Despite the stoppage, JLR has confirmed that factory staff are still required to report for duty at the West Midlands site.

Market analysts suggest that while JLR has successfully navigated semiconductor shortages in the past, this fresh "parts crunch" highlights the ongoing fragility of global automotive logistics. Investors are now closely watching for further regulatory filings from Tata Motors to assess whether the disruption will extend beyond the Solihull plant or affect other global manufacturing hubs.
