The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender have been bestsellers for the company
Jaguar Land Rover India has announced that it sold 1048 units in the first half of 2023. While it’s a big leap for the company’s performance compared to the same period last year (102% growth) it’s still far behind when it comes to the other players in the luxury car space. Mercedes-Benz India leads the pack with 8528 units, the BMW India (including MINI) earned the second spot with 5867 units while Audi took third place with 3474 units being sold during the first half of 2023.
One may think that Jaguar Land Rover would take 4th place, but it has been bested by Volvo India there. Volvo India infact sold 1089 units in the same period. So, Jaguar Land Rover takes the 5th position in the luxury space.

The company has said that the bestsellers have been Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and the Defender and all these three models contribute to 78 per cent of the current order book.
Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, said, “Backed by the growing demand among our discerning clients, our order book remains strong and growing, and we are excited and confident of our India story ahead.”
While the demand for new cars remains steady, the company has witnessed a big growth in the pre-owned business as well. The company said that it’s certified pre-owned car business grew by 137 per cent in the first quarter of FY23-24.
