JLR (formerly Jaguar Land Rover) has opened a new Open Innovation Hub in Bengaluru, India. This is the brand's fifth innovation centre with others already functioning in the UK, USA, Israel and Brazil.
The Open Innovation Hub in India will focus on big tech like artificial intelligence, big data and its analytics, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and it's sensors and devices as well as internet of things.
JLR says it will work closely with start-ups to develop ita next-generation of products and services that it claims will “help to define JLR’s future client experiences”. Furthermore, JLR is launching the Indian hub in partnership with Plug and Play and says it will bring together industry, government, academia and other parties.
Igor Murukami, JLR’s Innovation Director, said, “India’s rapidly growing startup sector and JLR’s already established presence and close links to the Tata Group make the country the ideal location for the newest Innovation Hub. Through global collaboration, JLR’s Open Innovation Programme is connecting us to the next generation of talent and technologies, and the addition of a Hub in India will support JLR’s engineering teams to innovate quickly to support vehicle design, features and improve customer experiences.”
