In a significant boost to Maharashtra's industrial landscape, the state cabinet on Tuesday approved seven major projects totalling more than ₹81,000 crore. These investments are poised to create 20,000 jobs across various sectors, including electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and semiconductors. The largest investments come from JSW Green Mobility Ltd and JSW Energy PS Eleven Ltd. JSW Green Mobility is set to invest ₹27,200 crore in a project to manufacture electric and hybrid cars in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, located in central Maharashtra. This venture is anticipated to create over 5,200 jobs and produce 5 lakh electric and 1 lakh commercial cars.

JSW Energy PS Eleven Ltd plans to establish a mega lithium battery manufacturing unit in Nagpur, within the Vidarbha region, with an investment of ₹25,000 crore. This facility is expected to generate 5,000 jobs, contributing significantly to the region's employment landscape. Maharashtra's first integrated semiconductor project has also been proposed at Taloja, an industrial hub in Raigad district near Mumbai. With an estimated cost of ₹12,000 crore, this project is expected to create over 4,000 jobs.
An official statement from the Maharashtra government highlighted the potential impact of these projects on the state's industrial growth and employment generation. The announcement comes just months before the assembly elections, signalling the government's commitment to economic development and job creation.
