This announcement follows the recent announcement of the MG Windsor arriving soon in the Indian market. The Windsor, an upcoming electric vehicle (EV), is a derivative of the Wuling Cloud EV, which is already available in international markets. It marks the second Wuling model to be rebranded under the MG label in India, the first being the MG Comet.
While the specifics of the Windsor remain closely guarded, it is anticipated to mirror the Cloud EV in many aspects. The vehicle is expected to feature a 50.6 kWh battery pack, promising a range exceeding 450 km on a single charge. Powered by a front axle-mounted electric motor delivering 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, the Windsor is equipped with a 1-speed automatic transmission. Charging options include a seven-hour AC charger for a 20-100% charge and a DC fast charger that can boost the battery from 30-100% in just 30 minutes.
Dimensionally, the Windsor is likely to match the Wuling Cloud EV, measuring 4295 mm in length, 1850 mm in width, and 1652 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2700 mm. Its exterior design is expected to include a full-width LED light bar at the front, a split-headlamp setup, a front fender-mounted charging port, flush-mounted door handles, and a rear light bar connecting the taillamps.
Inside, the Windsor aims to offer a blend of comfort and advanced technology. Features are expected to include fully reclining and fold-flat front seats, a 15.6-inch freestanding infotainment touchscreen, rose-gold interior accents, a 360-degree camera system, and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety features are anticipated to comprise four airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Upon its launch, the MG Windsor will compete with other prominent EVs in the Indian market, such as the BYD e6, priced at ₹29.15 lakh, and the forthcoming Kia Carens EV. The Windsor is expected to be priced at around ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
