While Kia has not shown the interior, it did reveal that the Carnival facelift will get a turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain.
Kia has unveiled the exterior design of the upcoming facelift of the fourth-gen Carnival. Kia India showcased the current model at the Auto Expo in New Delhi earlier this year as the KA4 but India will be getting the facelifted model, according to various reports.
The Carnival facelift now follows Kia’s new brand identity, with the fascia sporting design cues similar to the EV9 and various new Kia models. Even in India, this design language can be seen on the newly refreshed Seltos and the upcoming Sonet facelift.
With the facelift, the Carnival now gets inverted L-shaped LED daytime running lights with vertically stacked, wraparound LED headlights. The grille is now bigger and wider, and it has elements similar to the new Seltos facelift. The front bumper has also been revised, with it getting a slightly larger air intake with LED fog lamps as well as an ADAS module.
Not much has changed in profile, however, the Carnival facelift gets a new design for the alloy wheels. At the back, the Carnival gets a redesigned tailgate with the number plate indentation moving further down than before. It also gets a new bumper but the biggest update is the Seltos-like inverted L-shaped LED tail-lights. Like before, the reverse light is mounted on the bumper. The Carnival facelift will be available in six colour options – the new Ivory Silver, Snow White Pearl, Astra Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, Pantera Metal and Ceramic Silver.
Kia has yet to reveal the interior of the Carnival facelift but has given information about the powertrain options. It will now get three powertrain options – a petrol, a diesel and a hybrid. While the first two remain the same as before, a 290 bhp, 355 Nm, 3.5-litre V6 petrol and a 198 bhp, 440Nm, 2.2-litre diesel. The third powertrain will be a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid unit. While Kia hasn’t revealed the specifications of this powertrain, reports suggest it will produce around 227 bhp (combined).
Expect more details about the Kia Carnival facelift to surface in the coming weeks. It is expected that Kia India will launch this facelifted model in India sometime next year, after the Sonet facelift.
