The 1 millionth unit was the company's best-seller - the Kia Seltos
Kia India has rolled out its 1 millionth car from the Anantapur factory in Andhra Pradesh and it has achieved this milestone in just 4 years. It was in 2019, that the company kick started production at this facility and the first car to be made in India was the Kia Seltos. In fact, the 1 millionth car that was rolled out was also the Seltos but in the facelift avatar.
With this milestone, Kia has become the fastest carmaker to reach the 1 millionth production figure. The Seltos of course has been the company’s best-selling product because more than half of this one million i.e. 5 lakh units, belong to the Seltos. It was just recently that the company announced about this milestone for the Seltos and it achieved this in just 46 months.
The then Andhra Pradesh CM, N Chandrababu Naidu, took to twitter to congratulate Kia India on this achievement. He tweeted saying, "Delighted that @KiaInd has reached the impressive milestone of producing 1 million units from its Anantapur facility. Hearty congratulations to the management. Kia's investment in Andhra Pradesh in 2017 exemplifies the positive impact that strong political will and effective policies can have on shaping a region's destiny, generating wealth, creating employment opportunities, and placing it prominently on the global stage. I am glad Rayalaseema stands benefitted today, with thousands of local people finding employment without having to migrate elsewhere."
