The new variant could either come with more range or more storage space.
Kinetic Green is apparently working on a new version of the E Luna electric moped, if new design patents are to be believed. It could come with a long-range variant or a bigger storage variant because the design patent shows a box placed on the floor board in front of the rider.
The patent image shows that the E Luna’s overall design hasn’t changed apart from the aforementioned box. The said box has a trapezoidal design, sloping downwards towards the rider.
Currently, the Kinetic E Luna comes with a 2 kWh battery pack, which is a swappable unit placed under the rider. With the new variant, the swappable battery could be moved to the box, with a fixed unit placed under the rider. The additional battery will help improve the range of the E Luna which currently stands at 120 km (claimed), depending on the variant.
If this isn’t an additional battery but a storage box, it will help improve the practicality of the E Luna. However, the only issue with the practicality of the E Luna is the lack of decent covered storage space. The floor board did provide good storage space but that’s more beneficial for B2B (business-to-business) users rather than B2C (business-to-consumers) users.
Whatever it may be, we’ll only know once Kinetic Green makes an official announcement regarding a new variant of the E Luna. Till then, watch our review of the electric moped below.
