The most hardcore off-roader of the 390 platform is likely to undercut the 390 Adventure's asking price
After the stunning 390 Adventures, KTM is all set to take things up a notch by introducing the 390 Enduro R in the country. A no nonsense off-roader, the 390 Enduro R will be made at the Chakan-2 plant and is highly likely to undercut the 390 Adventure. We guess that in order to appease the off-roader crowd, KTM will slap on a sticker price in the region of ₹3.30 lakh - ₹3.40 lakh (ex-showroom India).
The Enduro R is going to be quite a serious step-up from the Adventure. While the fundamentals of the two bikes will remain common, i.e. the engine, chassis and swingarm, the Enduro R is tuned for doing its bidding off tarmac primarily. Hence, the suspension travel at both ends is significantly higher. It runs on a 21-/18-inch spoke wheel setup with Mitas knobby tyres.
There’s none of the large adventure bodywork here. Instead, a simple LED headlight with a dirt bike-like cowl can be found on the Enduro R. It also has the smallest fuel tank of the family: 9 litres only. As a result, the bike will be quite a bit lighter than the Adventure, theoretically making it easier to manage while off-roading.
However, it is going to be a challenge to get on to the saddle as it stands at 890 mm. The flat bench enduro-inspired seat will serve its purpose well when taking on gnarly terrain but managing it and getting the hang of hanging off the bike and finding your footing during stops will be the most challenging aspect.
We expect to hear more from KTM India in the coming few days as we will be riding the bike shortly.
