KTM

Its 1350 cc V-twin mill now makes a whopping 190 bhp from the factory.

For 2024, KTM will introduce the next iteration of its beast: the 1390 Super Duke R Evo, marking 30 years of the Duke series. This latest creation boasts a more aggressive look and several functional enhancements, which is, in a manner, a big evolution from its predecessor.

KTM

With the Super Duke 1390 R’s comprehensive overhaul, the Austrian brand focused on enhancing power, reducing weight, and improving agility and features. While there’s no escaping KISKA’s design influences, notable changes include a new LED headlight and winglets. It has got that fierce sci-fi alien face that is sure to just make heads turn instantly. The all orange colour scheme is reminiscent of the 2005 KTM 990 SUPER DUKE and is offered under ‘30 years of Duke’ colours.

The Super Duke R Evo features a redesigned LED headlight, tank spoilers, and added winglets, presenting a distinct visual shift. The lower overall profile and emphasis on a compact chassis contribute to a more robust appearance. Panels have been optimised for thickness, shedding unnecessary weight. New tank spoilers and winglets not only enhance aesthetics but also serve a functional purpose by increasing downforce.

The lightweight and 'smart' headlight design weighs nearly 700 grams less than its predecessor. The headlight integrates position and daytime running lights, adjusting intensity based on ambient light conditions via a sensor in the dashboard.

At the heart of this is a larger and more powerful version of the LC8 engine. Its displacement has increased to 1350 cc. More displacement translates to more power, and with 190 bhp, this engine is poised to transform ordinary short runs into exhilarating adrenaline rushes. The new camshift technology is anticipated to provide robust performance at low-end speeds and a sharp power band in higher revs. Accompanied by the impressive 145 Nm of torque which is spread through out the powerband, it promises to keep you entertained throughout the entire rev-range.

KTM

The Super Duke R Evo introduces the latest generation of WP Semi-Active Technology (SAT) in its suspension system. Electronically controlled magnetic valves offer variable damping, providing a customisable riding experience. Updated performance and track modes, along with optional features like engine brake control and suspension pro, enhance the technological aspects of the motorcycle. This bike comes with various settings for wheelie control and slide control too. This opens up a safety net for those moments of spirited riding.

The fuel tank has been increased to 17.5 litres, and the wheels received marginal redesigns. The bike also features a redesigned airbox, shorter throttle bodies, and an updated ram air system for more direct airflow into the engine. The top two gears have been revised for use over a more comprehensive speed range.

The 1390R comes equipped with various electronics, including riding modes, a lean-sensitive traction control system, a full-colour TFT display, TPMS, and an optional advanced anti-wheelie feature that can be switched off.

As far as the Indian launch is concerned, the best we can get from KTM is the Duke 390. To put things in perspective, it is one-fourth of what the Super Duke is. Given this, the Duke 390 does not fail to keep buyers thrilled. We just wish that this beast is available alongside the other models in the Duke lineup in India.
