The KX-1 GP is the only helmet legally sold in India that gets FIM certification
KYT India has been making our streets safe with its range of ECE and ISI certified helmets. We have been using its helmets for a while and the brand has also been our safety partners at the Acko Drive Awards. The helmet maker has added another dimension to its portfolio as it has launched India’s first FIM-certified helmet: the KX-1 GP. The lid is available in three shades and is priced at ₹57,000.
The KX-1 GP is the same lid that current factory Ducati racer, Enea Bastianini, uses for his exploits in MotoGP. The Italian has been instrumental in developing the helmet, which is aerodynamically wind-tunnel tested in Italy. The shell of the KX-1 GP is made from tri-composite carbon fibre with aramid resins. This helps keep the weight of the helmet in check, just tipping the scales at 1400 gm. The shell is available in three sizes: S, M and L.
When you purchase the helmet, you will receive an additional dark smoke visor, a pinlock anti-fog insert and a helmet bag. The visor has a metal race locking mechanism and is ready for tear-offs. There are seven air intake ducts to keep you cool on your rides with a double-D ring retention system to strap it securely around your head.
The KX-1 GP should spell good news for trackday enthusiasts and racers in the country as it should match their intent with great safety potential. The asking price is one of the highest for a helmet in India but the gains are far more crucial with a state-of-the-art helmet such as it is.
