Lamborghini is gearing to up debut a new version of the Urus SUV, as per teasers shared on the brand’s social media channels. While the Italian marque hasn’t divulged any information, it is expected to debut the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Urus.
However, Volkswagen Group confirmed that Lamborghini will be showcasing a PHEV model at the Volkswagen Group Night on April 24, alongside other world debuts from Audi and Volkswagen ahead of Auto China 2024 in Beijing.
The teasers of the upcoming Lamborghini show a few key bits about the design. While the hybrid SUV was completely under wraps, it does highlight that it will get new LED DRLs in the slightly redesigned headlamps. The current Urus S and Urus Performante models get a Y-shaped signature for the DRLs, the Urus PHEV will have a C-shaped signature instead. The front and rear bumpers are also likely to be slightly refreshed for the Urus PHEV.
The interior of the Urus hybrid has not yet been teased but it is expected to have a minor facelift compared to the Urus S and Performante models. However, many reports suggest that the Urus PHEV will get larger screens, updated controls as well as new trim elements.
The biggest difference, though, is under the hood. Lamborghini will share more information about the powerplant at its debut. However, it is said to have the same powertrain as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo e-Hybrid which has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine assisted by an electric motor and 25.9 kWh battery pack. Combined, the Cayenne hybrid produces 730 bhp and 950 Nm. If the Urus has similar power output levels, it will be a significant upgrade over the Urus Performante which produces 657 bhp and 850 Nm.
