The S2 Mulholland is the third electric bike from Livewire, which is owned by Harley-Davidson.
Harley-Davidson expanded its electric motorcycle portfolio by launching its third offering under the Livewire sub-brand. The Livewire S2 Mulholland made its American debut with a cool sticker price of $ 15,999 (₹ 13.34 lakh). The styling of the S2 Mulholland is very similar to the S2 Del Mar, but being a cruiser electric motorcycle, there are some notable differences.
The circular headlight, chopped fenders and the overall profile is a bit reminiscent of the Iron 883. One particularly interesting aspect is the rather small fuel tank, something that Harley used to focus a lot on. The focus for the designers was to stray as far away from a traditional ICE cruiser design, but we think they have managed to do that while retaining the cruiser design ethos in some way or the other.
What will make the environmentalists further happy apart from the fact that it’s an EV, is the focus on sustainability. The panels on the electric bike employ a lot of renewable materials to craft the body panels while the radiator shrouds and wiring caddies are made using recycled nylon threads from old fishing nets. The Livewire S2 Mulholland runs on a 10.5 kWh battery pack that is good enough for 84 bhp and the 0-100 kmph run is dusted in just 3.3 seconds!
Talking about range, Livewire claims that the S2 Mulholland can run for 194 km in the city, and 118 km in the city when ridden at 117 kmph. Now despite being an electric cruiser, the new offering from Livewire is better suited for breakfast runs rather than long distance touring which is the staple diet of a conventional cruiser. Charging time is pretty high at almost 6 hours for 0-80% using a conventional charger, but fast charging drops the same to almost 1.5 hours.
There are no plans of Harley-Davidson India to bring the Livewire products as it had done a market survey many years back and found the demand for niche electric motorcycles is too low. In fact, the Ultraviolette F77, India’s premium electric motorcycle is struggling to find buyers when the starting price is under Rs 4 lakh.
