Both cars will be showcased at the company’s new showroom in New Delhi.
The Lotus Emira and Emeya will be showcased in India for the first time on January 16, 2025. Both cars will join the Eletre electric SUV in the country, which till now was the only offering from the brand here. The debut of the Emira and the Emeya will also coincide with the inauguration of Lotus’s first official showroom in Delhi which is located at the newly opened World Trade Centre. While the official asking price of these two new cars is still under wraps, we expect them to be quite an expensive affair. Just like the all-electric Eletre SUV, the Lotus Emira and Emeya will be brought here via the CBU route, so both should be quite a rare sight on our roads.
The Emira is the successor to the Elise, Exige and Evora, and is available in global markets with two engine options. The first is a 4.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 361 bhp and 430 Nm and comes paired with a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The second is a 3.5-litre V6 sourced from Toyota that produces 400 bhp and 400 Nm and can be had with either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Which one of these powerhouse comes to India is yet to be confirmed.
The Emeya on the other hand is an all-electric sedan that Lotus likes to call “Hyper-GT”. Powered by two permanent magnet synchronous motors, one on each axle, the brand claims that the Emeya can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 2.78 seconds. Powered by a massive 102 kWh battery, the Emeya can do more or less the same range as its all-electric SUV brethren, which is around 600 km on a full charge.
Of the two, the Lotus Emira will be one of the most anticipated cars to launch in the country, simply for being a pure ICE-powered sports car. The Emeya will keep our hearts racing as well for the sheer madness in terms of performance it will deliver, just like its SUV counterpart. Now all that remains to be seen is how much these cars cost us.
