Maharashtra Posts Highest Passenger Vehicle Sales In Q3' 2024: SIAM

Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) released State/UT-wise sales data of passenger vehicles sold in the period between October to December 2023. Maharashtra posted the highest passenger vehicle sales in the country with 11.96 percent of the total vehicles sold. Followed by Uttar Pradesh at 10.04 percent, Gujarat at 8.46 percent, and Karnataka at 7.07 percent closing the Top 4 positions. 

Several manufacturers have also also seen an uptick in sales performance. Mahindra, Toyota, Honda, and Volkswagen registered Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) growth in December 2023. Hyundai also started 2024 on its best month sales note ever.

Uttar Pradesh, however, posted the highest vehicle sales in this period. Followed by Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu at second, third, and fourth positions. West Bengal and Haryana saw the least amount of new vehicle purchases in the country. 

Maharashtra also saw the most number of commercial vehicle purchases in the country at 13.24 percent. Trailed by Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat at 9.64 percent and 8.69 percent in the top three positions of the total vehicle sales. Uttar Pradesh however, saw the most number of three-wheeler sales in the country, followed by Maharashtra and and Gujarat.
