Mahindra and Mahindra has just rolled out its latest war wagon, the Armado, for the Indian Armed Forces. This bad boy is India's first Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle (ALSV), and it's packing some serious heat. The Armado is built on a Mahindra Thar chassis, but it's been heavily modified to make it more capable in combat. But the real deal here is the fact that Mahindra has achieved all of this without relying on anyone else. That's right, folks, it's an indigenous creation, proudly made in India. Mahindra has proven that we don't need to look elsewhere for state-of-the-art military hardware.
The Armado isn't just any run-of-the-mill tank-on-wheels. It's compact, it's agile, and it's as tough as nails. Mahindra has thrown in all the bells and whistles, ensuring that our troops are armed to the teeth and ready to rock. Whether it's traversing treacherous terrain or dominating the urban jungle, this baby has got it covered.
It's got STANAG Level 2 and B7 level ballistic protection, which means it can withstand gunfire from most assault rifles and even some light machine guns. It's also got a self-cleaning air filtration system, so it can operate in dusty or contaminated environments. But the Armado isn't just all about protection. It is 4,500 mm long, 2000 mm wide, and 1900 mm tall, with a ground clearance of 220 m, weighing up to 2.5 tons. It can carry up to 6 people, including the driver.
It's also got some serious firepower. It's armed with a 12.7mm machine gun, and it can also be fitted with a variety of other weapons, including a 40mm grenade launcher or a 7.62mm machine gun. The Armado is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 140 bhp. It has a maximum speed of 100 kmph and a range of 700 km. The vehicle can also be fitted with a winch for self-recovery.
