Mahindra filed trademarks for XUV 1XO, XUV 3XO, XUV 5XO and XUV 7XO.
Mahindra & Mahindra has filed for multiple new trademarks that could be used for its upcoming electric vehicles. The Indian SUV manufacturer has filed trademarks for XUV 1XO, XUV 3XO, XUV 5XO and XUV 7XO. Mahindra could also use these trademarks for its models which have electric and internal combustion powertrains.
Given Mahindra’s naming system, the XUV 1XO could be the smallest vehicle of the lot, probably a spiritual successor to the KUV100 and rival to the Tata Punch.ev and Citroën ëC3. Similarly, the XUV 3XO could be based on the XUV300, but Mahindra already has the XUV400 which is based on the XUV300. So, this new name could probably be used on the XUV400 facelift.
Moving on to the XUV 5X0, it could be used for a new electric SUV that would rival the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and the Curvv EV as well as the MG ZS EV. Furthermore, the XUV 7XO could be based on the XUV700. However, Mahindra has already showcased the XUV700’s electric version called the XUV.e8 but its production version could use the XUV 7XO moniker.
Filing for trademarks does not necessarily mean that these names will be assigned to production-ready versions. Most manufacturers just file these trademarks to protect their intellectual property.
Recently, Mahindra also trademarked seven names for the upcoming 5-door Thar. The marque filed trademarks for the Thar Armada, Thar Cult, Thar Rex, Thar Roxx, Thar Centruian, Thar Gladius and Thar Savannah.
