The latest generation M11Electro is claimed to be 30 per cent quicker than the current generation F1 car.
Mahindra Racing has taken the wraps off of its latest Formula E race car, the M11Electro, featuring significant performance upgrades that make it the fastest FIA-certified single-seater race car to date. The car was unveiled at the team's Banbury headquarters ahead of Season 11 which is slated to start from December 7, 2024, with the opening race in Sao Paolo.
The M11Electro accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-96 kmph) in 1.82 seconds, making it 30 per cent quicker than current Formula 1 cars, with a top speed of 200 mph (i.e. 321 kmph). These performance figures come from a newly developed powertrain in-house, along with major aerodynamic and suspension updates. Coupled with Formula E's rule changes for Season 11 to introduce all-wheel drive for Duels, race starts, and Attack Mode activations. New Hankook tyres are expected to boost track performance by 5-10 per cent.
The team has completed extensive testing, averaging 500 km daily. This preparation comes as Mahindra looks to improve upon their previous Formula E record of 5 wins, 24 podiums, and 10 pole positions.
CEO Frederic Bertrand said: "It's always an exciting point in the pre-season when we gather everybody together to launch not just our new car, the Mahindra M11Electro, but also to celebrate an exciting new chapter in Formula E.
Driver Nyck de Vries commented: "It's always interesting when Formula E introduces a new car. It's important that we continue to evolve with the technology, and this new GEN3 Evo, in particular, will add some different elements to the racing.
Teammate Edoardo Mortara added: "Testing has definitely been promising so far, but as always, there is plenty to do to ensure we keep developing and keep improving.
