Mahindra has revealed that bookings for the top-spec Pack Three variant will open on February 14, 2025.

Mahindra has officially unveiled the pricing for its new electric SUV, the XEV 9e, along with the BE 6 (previously named BE 6e). The XEV 9e is priced between ₹21.90 lakh and ₹30.50 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom) and will be offered in three variants: One, Two, and Three, with two battery pack options. Notably, the price for the XEV 9e One variant was disclosed earlier on November 26, 2024. Mahindra has now revealed that bookings for the top-spec Pack Three variant will open on February 14, 2025. The booking timelines for the remaining variants are expected to be announced in March 2025, alongside the planned customer deliveries.Mahindra-XEV-9e-Tracking-5.jpg

Comparable in size to the Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian, the XEV 9e measures 4,789 mm in length, 1,907 mm in width, and 1,694 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. Its design includes a closed-off front grille, prominent daytime running lights (DRLs), vertically stacked LED headlights, a coupe-style sloping roofline, full-length light bars at the front and rear, chunky body cladding, and flush door handles. Dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels (upgradable to 20-inch) and an illuminated model designation on the bonnet further enhance its modern appeal.

The cabin of the XEV 9e features a modern, dual-tone theme with a design inspired by the XUV700 but updated with contemporary elements. Highlights include a two-spoke steering wheel with a 12 o’clock marker and a three-screen setup comprising a 12.3-inch all-digital driver’s display, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a co-driver’s display. The SUV offers 663 litres of boot space and an additional 150-litre front trunk (frunk), providing practical storage options. Mahindra-XEV-9e-Interior-12.jpg

Other notable interior features include semi-active suspension, brake-by-wire technology, auto park functionality, and premium touches like a 16-speaker, 1,400W Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos support. The XEV 9e also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa compatibility, connected car tech, an augmented reality heads-up display, cooled centre storage, and multiple driving modes.

Performance-wise, the XEV 9e comes with two battery options: a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh pack, both paired with a single rear-mounted motor. The 59 kWh battery delivers 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, offering a range of up to 542 km (MIDC Phase 1+2), while the 79 kWh battery provides 282 bhp and 380 Nm, with a range of up to 656 km (MIDC Phase 1+2). Charging options include 140 kW and 175 kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in just 20 minutes. Additionally, 7.2 kW and 11 kW wall box chargers are available, with charging times ranging from 6 to 11.7 hours depending on the battery size.

Safety is a priority in the XEV 9e, with features such as seven airbags, Level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), an electronic parking brake, four-wheel disc brakes, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and hill hold control. Mahindra-XEV-9e-Tracking-1.jpg

While the XEV 9e does not have any direct competitors, it rivals similarly priced EVs like the MG ZS EV and BYD Atto 3 and serves as a more economical alternative to the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
