Among the top-selling models, Maruti Suzuki maintains its dominance, with several of its vehicles leading in overall sales. In a month where compact SUVs and hatchbacks proved to be the most popular choices, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza emerged as the best-selling car, followed closely by its stablemates, the Ertiga, and Hyundai’s popular Creta.
In August 2024, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza achieved the highest sales with 19,190 units sold. This compact SUV has continued to enjoy popularity due to its blend of style, practicality, and feature-rich offerings. Following closely behind, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga recorded sales of 18,580 units, underlining its appeal as a leading multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
The Hyundai Creta, one of the strongest competitors in the compact SUV segment, registered 16,762 units in sales. Known for its advanced features, attractive design, and Hyundai’s trusted brand reputation, the Creta remains a top performer. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R remains one of the top-selling hatchbacks in India, with 16,450 units sold in August. Wagon R's combination of fuel efficiency, practicality, and affordability has kept it relevant in the highly competitive hatchback market.
Tata Motors' Punch, with sales of 15,643 units, continues its impressive run in the micro SUV space. Known for its rugged build, stylish design, and competitive pricing, the Punch has carved out a niche among budget-conscious SUV enthusiasts. The Mahindra Scorpio, with 13,787 units sold, remains a popular choice for those seeking a rugged, capable SUV.
Maruti Suzuki’s popular hatchback offerings, the Swift and the Baleno, registered 12,844 units and 12,485 units, respectively. Both cars have consistently performed well in the Indian market, with the Swift known for its peppy performance and sporty appeal, while the Baleno offers a more premium feel with modern features and spacious interiors.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, managed to sell 12,387 units, reflecting its positive reception among subcompact SUV buyers. The crossover combines elements of both hatchbacks and SUVs, appealing to urban buyers looking for a compact yet stylish vehicle. Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon sold 12,289 units, continuing its strong run in the subcompact SUV segment.
