The e Vitara is built on the new Heartect-e platform, a modular skateboard-style chassis developed in partnership with Toyota.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, is set to make a significant stride into the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the unveiling of the e Vitara at the 2025 Auto Expo. Now, the company has announced that the new e Vitara will be sold under the Nexa brand, suggesting that the electric SUV will carry a premium price tag. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki also named its electric vision 'e For Me', which it said will aim for a 'comprehensive approach' to electric vehicles as well as its infrastructure, along with 'innovative solutions' to make it more accessible.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "Our 'e For Me' vision represents a defining moment in India's electric mobility transformation. While Maruti Suzuki has been India's trusted mobility partner for over four decades, today, we are introducing a revolutionary approach to electric mobility that puts the customer at the core. This strategy goes beyond just launching electric vehicles; it is about creating an entire ecosystem that makes the transition to electric mobility natural and seamless for every Indian. We are excited to showcase the complete dimension of 'e For Me' at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, where visitors will experience first-hand how we are reimagining the future of mobility in India."

The e Vitara’s front is adorned with LED headlights featuring three-piece DRLs, complemented by a black bumper with silver skid plates for a rugged yet refined look. The profile is distinguished by 18-inch alloy wheels on standard variants, while the AWD version gets larger 19-inch alloys. The C-pillar-mounted rear door handles add a contemporary touch. At the rear, LED tail lights and a neatly integrated roof spoiler complete the design, delivering a cohesive and modern appearance without unnecessary embellishments.

Inside, the e Vitara features a dual-tone dashboard with squared-off design elements mirroring the vehicle’s exterior. The cabin is dominated by two integrated screens—a 10.1-inch infotainment display supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital driver information display.

Maruti has introduced a new two-spoke steering wheel, adding a fresh design language to the Nexa lineup. Premium touches like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a spacious layout elevate the e Vitara’s appeal in the mass-market EV segment.

Globally, the e Vitara is available with two battery configurations - a 49 kWh battery (FWD) that produces 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque, while the 61 kWh battery (FWD), offers 171 bhp and the same torque output.

The most anticipated variant, however, is the AWD model, equipped with a dual-motor setup. It delivers an impressive 245 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, making it the first mass-market AWD EV in India if launched.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is built on a new platform that is developed in collaboration with Toyota.

The e Vitara is built on the new Heartect-e platform, a modular skateboard-style chassis developed in partnership with Toyota. This platform is purpose-built for electric vehicles and is expected to underpin future models from both Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. Toyota’s Urban Cruiser EV, also based on this platform, is expected to debut alongside the e Vitara in 2025.

We expect Maruti Suzuki to price the e vitara at a starting price of ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the e Vitara. This pricing places it in direct competition with established EVs like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and Toyota’s Urban Cruiser EV
